Dual Credit and College Link


Graduation is Friday May 17, 2018, 2 pm Seniors, please apply to colleges as soon as possible.

SENIORS, please apply to The University of New Mexico (UNM) Main Campus at:  http://admissions.unm.edu  Application fee waived through October.

UNM recruiter Jacy Whatley will visit TA on Tuesday, October 2, 10:15 am in the cafeteria..  All sophomores, juniors, seniors and parents are invited to attend.

UNM Main Campus Field Trip to Albuquerque will be on Friday, November 2, 2018.  We will leave from Taos Academy at 8 am and return between 5-5:30 pm. Please bring lunch money.  Sign up with Ms. Senescu or Ms. Densow.

Seniors, please go to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, and begin the application, (opens October 1, 2018) for the 2018-2019 college year.  https://fafsa.ed.gov/  

The completion of the FAFSA is required of all college students.

Seniors - ACT is October 27, 2018 and the registration deadline was September 28, 2018.  The next SAT is November 3, 2018 and the registration deadline is October 5, 2018.  

Daniels Fund Scholarship Program online application will open October 1 and close November 29, 2018 at 4pm MST.  Taos Academy has had four seniors receive this 4 year scholarship. Community Service and volunteering is a strong component in receiving this scholarship.  For more information and to apply please go to:


Los Alamos National Lab Employee  Scholarship Fund outreach committee member, Julie Bremser,  will visit TA on Thursday, October 16, 2018 at 9 am.  Seniors, please apply for this scholarship. All seniors and their families are invited to attend this presentation for this very important and generous scholarship.

Juniors and Sophomores – The PSAT will be Wednesday morning, October 10, 2018.  There are a limited number of tests, so please let Ms. Senescu know if you are interested in taking this Preliminary SAT (PSAT).  There is no charge for sophomores, but juniors need to pay $16. Please make your check payable to Taos Academy Foundation. The test will be administered at Taos Youth and Family Center at 8:15 am, and it may last until 12 pm.

The Armed Services Vocational Assessment Battery (ASVAB) will be administered at TA on Tuesday, November 13 at 8:30 am.  All sophomores will be taking this career assessment test for their Career Pathways class.  For more information, please contact Ms. Cobey Senescu.

College Link and Dual Credit Program


The College Link program and Dual Credit program offerings are a great way for High School students to gain college experience and credit in a supported setting.

Taos Academy Dual Credit Programs

Taos Academy has two dual credit options for high school:

College Link – ​UNM - Taos ​- Juniors and Seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher with approval by Taos Academy Advisor, College Link Advisor, and Taos Academy Counselor

UNM – Taos Friday Early College Program – 10th – 12th grades with 2.0 or higher GPA

College Link

Dual Credit classes provide students with the opportunity to earn college credits at the University of New Mexico - Taos branch while still in high school. The Taos Academy College Link (CL) program was the first program to be developed on our campus to serve as a support for participating dual credit students.  It is open to eligible juniors and seniors.  College Link students develop an individualized class schedule with their CL Advisor and may attend UNM-Taos campus classes during the week (Monday-Saturday). The flexible nature of our CL program was created to allow students more class choices throughout the week. Therefore, students are held accountable for demonstrated self-direction and motivation while successfully observing both UNM and Taos Academy academic requirements and school policies.

UNM-Taos FRIDAY Early College Program (FECP)

UNM-Taos offers a unique program of FRIDAY college classes designed for and attended by Taos County high school students only. Taos Academy 10th - 12th graders with a 2.0 GPA or higher are encouraged to begin their college campus dual credit experience in this program. Students register for a morning class and an afternoon class to have full immersion in the college experience at UNM-Taos.
