From Taos Academy's Emmett Moulton comes a glimpse into the workings of the Teen Science Cafe Network. He's written an article about a recent Café event and you can take a look at his work, covering the challenge and excitement of programming a bot to perform distinct directional tasks at a pace that will beat the competition on time. His story is here.

Denim Padberg, Taos Academy's youngest published Author is pictured with Rep Jason Harper who presented him with a certificate of honor for his work during Legislative session, and also with Governor Martinez at a private meeting where she congratulated him for his honor. Denim's visit prompted a discussion on the value of Charter Schools. Thank you Denim for being a great representative of our school!

Denim Padberg has been having a successful year, to say the least. While many students his age are working through basic math like multiplication and division, and naming the planets in our solar system, Denim is on his own path. He has been encouraged and aided by family and educators to research and write a book on one of his favorite ponderances - quantum physics, including relativity and the creation and destruction of matter and our own universe as we experience it. How Relative is Relativity was published earlier this year. He has received great acclaim in local press recently since his signing event (October 25) at the Embudo Valley Library in Dixon and the September release of his book. We at Taos Academy are very proud to be able to work with Denim and help his unique interests and abilities guide his academic career here (he has a few more years of primary and secondary school to get through first). We can't wait to see what he'll come up with next.

The Taos News came to Taos Academy on Monday, February 16th to interview Sebastien Moulton about his documentary, "Inside the Rainbow" that he completed last week.  The documentary features Taos Academy students and PFLAG scholarship recipients talking about various LGBTQ issues in our community. The documentary was developed by request from PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Taos as a way to send a strong, clear, and supportive message to students, families, and the entire Taos community.Students in the film volunteered to take part and received permission from their parents.Taos Academy is proud to partner with PFLAG Taos and give voice to youth in the conversation about equality and embracing diversity.  It is imperative to staff and students at Taos Academy that we create a safe, healthy learning environment and continuing to have conversations about how to treat one another respectfully will help us achieve our goal.

Miss Hana O'Brien Ishikawa is currently having a "retrospective" show; possibly the youngest artist to have a retrospective exhibition, at the age of 10. A creative spirit, Hana has been creating works of art since she was less than a year old. This event, showing at Salon X in Taos features her work from 10 months to 10 years old. The reception was held January 17th, but the work remains on display until February 21st. Below are some great images from Hana's Opening Reception. Hana and Simon Hana Proud Owners Opening Event
