Kudos to Kara and Ujio for facilitating our first student-led workshop, the Taos Academy Rodeo Bootcamp. Participants learned important skills they need to compete in a rodeo, they learned roping techniques, strategies for handling a horse and enjoyed some dinner.
Math Highlights: Mr. Moulton's Algebra 1 students explored functions and their graphs for stopping distances by using an application simulation that Mr. Moulton developed himself!!! Mrs. May's Algebra 1 students applied their knowledge on slope formula while completed a scavenger hunt.
Hands-on learning- This month Taos Academy classrooms are implementing hands-on, experential learning. Mr. Pepper taught integers in his math class with " The Bank of Pepper" where students had to track costs and income in a financial game. Mr. Weisfeld facilitated a lesson where students demonstrated divergent and convergent boundaries with treats.

Rooted in Taos, New Mexico, Taos Academy serves students in grades 5–12 through a small, student-centered approach to education. Its mission is to help young people become capable, curious learners who are ready to shape their own futures. STEM-oriented middle school experiences encourage discovery, while high school students can pursue college and dual-credit opportunities. Through flexible learning, attentive guidance, and a connected school community, Taos Academy makes room for each student to grow.
Taos Academy is a NM Spotlight School with accolades in Science, eSports, Early College High School, and much more.
TA student success: Governor’s STEM competition 1st place for 6 years in a row, esports team brought home bronze and silver with a chance for GOLD this year, lettered athletes, bilingual seal recipients, Danielson, Fullbright, and Gates scholarship recipients, National Merit qualifiers, and much more.

A Hybrid Model With Real Support
Most students spend two days a week on campus and complete guided independent coursework on other days. This rhythm preserves personal connection while helping students build responsibility, confidence, and time-management skills.
Students are welcome on campus Monday to Thursday each week. Middle School students typically attend on Mondays and Wednesdays. High School students attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students in both Middle School and High school are welcome to attend all 4 days.
Two Days Together
On-campus days bring students and teachers together for collaboration, discussion, and hands-on learning.
Independent Days, Guided Progress
Teachers and advisors help students plan coursework, stay on track, and learn to manage their time.
Support Beyond the Classroom
Students can connect through tutoring, labs, electives, mentoring, clubs, and community events.
Student Success Labs
The Student Success Lab (SSL) is a quiet, supportive space at Taos Academy where students can strengthen their learning, meet academic goals, and stay on track with coursework through extra time, tutoring, and goal‑setting support.
Purpose and Environment
The SSL extends the classroom experience by:

Middle school is a time to ask big questions and try new approaches. At Taos Academy, STEM-oriented learning gives students opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through applied projects that connect classroom ideas to the world around them.

At Taos Academy, students take an active role in their education, combining academic learning with real-world experiences, creative problem-solving, and opportunities for personal growth. Through our Early College program, dual-credit courses, and flexible learning pathways, students can explore their interests, earn college credits, and develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take their next steps.
Build Skills by Doing
Students practice investigating questions, testing solutions, and learning from what happens next. Alongside STEM exploration, the hybrid schedule encourages them to manage independent work while staying connected to teachers and classmates during campus days.
