Course Levels
FLEX students may enroll in courses at different levels, depending on their needs:
-
Honors (H): Full course content with advanced requirements. Students must maintain an Actual Grade of 75% or higher; successful completion adds one GPA point.
-
Standard: Meets or exceeds Common Core and NM State Standards. Students must maintain a 75% or higher or attend extra support sessions as needed.
-
Power Standards (P): Streamlined content while still meeting state standards. Students are responsible for all major assignments and must maintain a 75% or higher or attend extra support sessions as needed.
Attendance and Academic Progress
-
Students must remain “on pace” in their online courses. Falling behind may result in a Student Success Contractand additional attendance requirements.
-
All FLEX students are assigned to a weekly Academic Advisory class (virtual) that is required. Missing this class counts as an absence.
-
Academic Absences are recorded when students fall behind in their coursework. Unexcused academic absences are combined with unexcused virtual absences. Reaching ten (10) total absences requires the school, by state law, to report to the Juvenile Probation Office.
-
If a student fails to raise their grades to 70% or higher within 30 days of a Student Success Contract, they will be reassigned to in-person learning the following semester and lose FLEX eligibility for the remainder of the year.
Family Commitment
-
Parents/guardians are expected to attend two student-led conferences per year (virtual or in person).
-
Students must attend required on-campus events, including orientation, state-mandated testing, final exam weeks, and Community & Leadership days.
-
Families are encouraged to review the FLEX Student Handbook for detailed policies and the Parent Glossary for key terms.
