Our Founders
Our Founders
Taos Academy was born from a shared vision: to create a school that truly meets the needs of 21st-century learners. Our founders—a team of experienced educators with more than 30 years in the field—saw that today’s students needed more than traditional teaching methods. They envisioned a learning model that blends the best of proven educational practices with innovative digital tools and flexible approaches. The result is a hybrid environment designed to engage, challenge, and empower the “digital citizen” to succeed in school, career, and life.

Karin Moulton
Taos Academy Foundation, Principal Officer

Karin Moulton brings more than 25 years of experience as an educator in both public and private schools. Recognized for her work with gifted and talented students, she is known as a highly effective teacher and a passionate advocate for student success.
Mrs. Moulton understands the importance of equipping students with 21st-century leadership skills—creative critical thinking, collaboration, communication, global awareness, personal responsibility, and career readiness. Her dedication and vision bring energy, expertise, and commitment to Taos Academy.
As Mrs. Moulton shares, “Every child in public school should have an individualized plan for their education. Families shouldn’t have to pay tuition at a private school to have their child’s needs met. Education is more than academics—it’s about experiences with peers, community engagement, and developing communication and problem-solving skills. I hope Taos Academy becomes an integral part of our Taos community, preparing students to thrive in all aspects of life.”
The Taos Academy Governing Council is committed to expanding educational opportunities and partnering with the community to make a meaningful difference for the youth of Taos.
